Download Expando
14 days, everything on, nothing to sign up for.
The signed build goes to the early-access list first. Leave an address below and it comes to you before anybody else.
What happens on first launch
macOS asks for two permissions before any text expander can work, and Expando explains each one where it asks rather than sending you to a support page:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Input Monitoring | To notice that you typed an abbreviation. Expando watches for its own triggers and nothing else; keystrokes are never written anywhere. |
| Accessibility | To replace the abbreviation with the expansion in the app you are typing in, and to put the caret where the snippet says. |
Expando never expands in a password field, on the lock screen, or while another app has Secure Input turned on, and it tells you which app is holding it.
Bringing your snippets
Open Import on the first run. Expando finds an installed TextExpander, searches the whole Mac with Spotlight for a library file, or takes a file you pick. Nothing already in your library is changed or removed, and a backup is taken before anything is added.
Not on sale yet. The people who ask first pay less.
Expando is finished enough to use and not finished enough to sell. Leave an address and you get the signed beta build before anybody else, and a launch price only this list gets. We'll email you when it opens.
